I hope you all had a very Happy Easter and a relaxing spring break. It is hard to believe there are only nine weeks of school left. Where has the year gone? One thing that speaks to me at this time, is how much we have yet to learn in the next nine weeks! Please support us in our endeavors to finish the year out strong.Students did awesome overall on Multiplication, however many still have yet to master their multiplication fact. This is one of the standards for 3rd grade, so I ask that you check with your child on the facts and practice with them at home. On Tuesdays and Thursdays we work with Flashmasters for the first 10 minutes of class, and still many rely on their Math Facts charts way to much.

Students will have tests in English and Math, along with the usual Spelling and Vocabulary tests. English test is on adjectives, adverbs, articles and to, too, and two. Math test will cover Ch. 6; mult. facts 6, 7, 8, patterns and word problems.

Students will be tested ont he Apostles Creed this week. They will say the prayer orally to their teacher and graded accordingly.

In addition to the regular nightly homework students need to be practicing their basic multiplication facts and reading for at least 20 minutes. It is very important that 3rd graders master instant recall of multiplication facts 1-10's prior to 4th grade. Practicing w/ flash cards or simple math songs will greatly enhance this skill. A game of WAR with regular playing cards can be done easily. Take out the face cards and using the others, lay down two cards and the first person to multiply these numbers correctly gets to keep the cards. The person who ends up with the most cards in the end wins the hand.
