Dear Parents,

(4A and 4B) I gave students a Star Math Test last week. Most students did really well and you can tell by their scores on page two that they have achieved a lot of growth in Math this year. Several students will need to retake their tests due to problems with the computers. Some computers timed out, some lost their internet connection, and some had problem with other things. This is very frustrating for the students (and for me as well). Those students that had scores drop will be retaking the Star Math Test. The results were sent home last week. Students should have been tested at least five times this year (if they were here the full year)... so you can see some went up and down... this usually has to do with the computers.... not their ability.

We will be starting on Unit 9 on Monday. This Math unit has to do with Fractions. This is a standard for 4th grade. We will be using fraction sticks, playing some games with fractions, and using fractions in all kinds of scenarios. This will be a fun unit.

(4A and 4B)  In Science this week we will be finishing changes of state. We are learning about solids, liquids and gasses. Also, mass, volume and density, solutions, solubility, buoyancy. We will be having a science test over this unit on Thursday. I will make up a study guide to hand out to the class - probably on Monday.

(4A) The Spelling Unit for this week is  Review Unit 18. Please give your child the pretest and turn in on Tues. morning.  Thank you. We have gotten through all the regular units and are now going back to do the review units.

Please check the assignment page for homework. And remember, I can be reached at sarmbruster@allsaintsparish.com or susan.armbruster@gmail.com When the power is out, the school server is down, hence you cannot reach me on the school e-mail. Feel free to reach me on my personal e-mail. I check it often.

Make sure to check the projects page for upcoming projects and due dates (along with the homework page).

Have a good week!

Ms. Armbruster
