Welcome to music! I'm so happy to be working with all the All Saints students this year. My web page will be a work in progress for a while, so please check back regularly if you have questions - more information will be coming every week!

In general, my philosophy of teaching music centers on singing and movement for primary grades, with increasing emphasis on playing instruments and music theory (learning to read and write music) as students move through the intermediate grades and into middle school. I also include study of composers, as well as guided listening activities to increase students' ability to appreciate a variety of styles and genres.

At this time, I am still largely focused on getting to know the students and their musical backgrounds. We've begun the listening program (daily in 5th-8th grades, weekly in 3rd and 4th grades) and review of reading rhythms and notes. Of course, the big focus at this time of year is on the Christmas program for grades 3-6, and that takes up a fair amount of our class time.
