Volunteer Opportunities
Volunteer Opportunities
Whether you are a school parent looking for commitment hours, or a parishioner looking to share your gifts of time and talent, your support of All Saints School and Parish is needed and appreciated. There are a number of areas and programs in which to volunteer at All Saints. This page will be updated throughout the year with information on how you can get involved. So please, check back often! (Please note: all school volunteers, including parents, must have a completed background check form on file. If you would like a form, please contact either campus office and a form will be sent home to you.)
Volunteer Opportunities for the 2012-13 School Year
Librarian, Puyallup Campus
Librarian duties at the Puyallup campus include checking out books to students, keeping inventory of books, shelving books and monitoring student accounts. Students attend library once a week with their classroom teacher.
Accelerated Reader Coordinator
Next year we will have an Accelerated Reader board that shows each grade level's progress in AR. The Accelerated Reader Coordinator will create a bulletin board and update the results of each class on a monthly basis.
Science Docents
The new science kits that will be used in each grade require organization and set-up of materials. The science docent(s) will work with the classroom teacher to organize the material, help with set-up of labs and hands-on materials and keep an inventory of materials.
Current Volunteer Opportunities for the 2011-12 School Year:
Recess Help
Both the Fife and Puyallup campuses are in need of more recess help. This is a great way to help out the school and earn commitment hours. If you are interested, please contact Susan White at the Puyallup campus office or Joy Mierzwinski at the Fife campus office.
Food Worker Cards for Lunchroom Helpers
In order to help serve lunch in one of our kitchens, you must have a food worker card. For the last several years, the Tacoma/Pierce County Health Department has sent a representative to our Puyallup campus in the summer to hold a food worker class. Due to budget cuts in the health department, those classes have been cancelled for the duration of 2010. So...if you are going to work in either of our kitchens for the 2011- 2012 school year, and you need to get a food worker card or renew an existing food worker card, you must take the class at the Tacoma/ Pierce County Health Department. Here are the details:
- Classes are held: Every Monday and Friday at 9am and 2pm
- Every Tuesday and Thursday at 6pm
- You will need: $10 cash (no checks accepted) and Photo ID
- Location: Tacoma/Pierce County Health Department 3629 S. D St. (corner of 37th & D)
Tacoma (253) 798-6475 - You are encouraged to arrive 30 minutes prior to the beginning of class due to parking constraints. Expect the class to take 60-90 minutes.
Elementary Religious education Teachers
The Parish is currently seeking Elementary Religious Ed teachers who would be available on Sundays from 10:00 to 11:00 am. Teachers will have the opportunity to be trained on Monday, September 20th with our newly adapted curriculum. We would be more than happy to accept all volunteers even after the Septemember 20th training. Please contact Celestina at the Parish office 253-845-7521.
Substitute Custodians
We need several people who would be willing to fill in for Mrs. Mierzwinski and Mr. Keaty when they are at workshops or are sick. If interested, please call Mrs. White at the Puyallup Campus.
Back-Up Bus Driver
Have you always fantasized about being a bus driver? Well, now is your chance! The school is in need of a back-up bus driver to occasionally relieve Mr. Simmons and/or to drive on field trips. If you are interested in finding out more, please contact Mrs. White at the Puyallup Campus.
